Attila the Stockbroker

Thursday night I went to the Bishopsgate Institute for the first time since sitting my LPC exams. Although this time I would not be required to explain the process for dissolving a partnership. Instead I was off to the Library to see Attila the Stockbroker, an activist punk poet.

I've never been to a library for a gig before. It was a small affair, I'd say there were around 30 seats in total.

I got talking to an interesting activist from Hackney who was letting me know about some of the protests that he had coming up in relation to the credit crunch and climate change. For anyone interested you can find more details by clicking here.

As for Attila - the man is a genius. My favourite poems of the night were 'Every time I eat vegetables I think of you', 'F'n'F' (tribute to Eminem), 'Attila the Stockbroker cleans up the City' and 'Nasal Architecture'. Very political but also very true. I recommend checking out his books and recordings. If you get a chance to see him live, even better!

A great evening and a great venue. I recommend both to all.
