Albums of the Year No. 10: Blink 182 - California

At No.10 is a old school favourite band for me. During my University years I had Enema of the State and Take off Your Pants and Jacket as well as the older albums - Dude Ranch and Cheshire Cat.

This album though is the first without long term singer and guitarist Tom DeLonge. Taking up his mantle is Matt Skiba formerly of Alkaline Trio. I had my doubts but actually this could be one of their best albums to date. With Matt onboard they have gone back to the catchy tunes of the early 2000's era that launched the band into the main stream. My favourite tracks on the album are Bored to Death, No Future, Rabbit Hole and Kings of the Weekend.

I wanted to add the video for The Only Thing That Matters as it contains a sweet little homage to Reel Big Fish but sadly there isn't video available. So instead here is Bored to Death:
