Albums of the Year No. 8: David Bowie - Black Star
I imagine a number of Albums of the Year posts/lists will feature this album this year. I'll be honest, I probably wouldn't have been in a rush to buy it had Bowie not sadly passed away but I had heard Black Star on BBC 6 Music and did quite like the track.
The album though is quite phenomenal and taking into the context that this was written by a man who knew he was dying but didn't tell anyone, it is a goodbye to the world that will be difficult to be topped.
It is a great album and an amazing parting gift from such a talented musician. If you haven't had a listen yet, I urge you to do so.
My favourite track is Blackstar and it is a whopper at 10 minutes! It's also amazing that before his death Bowie even managed to record the videos for the album.
